They dont even issue paychecks! Direct Deposit only! and no pay stubs are ever issued either! You want pay statements, you have to go online (good luck with that! I tried to access my payroll several times over the year I worked for them and NEVER could get in!)or cajole some office worker who doesnt care if you live or die to print them up for you!

At any carrier you have haves and have nots, that's the brilliance of the piece work OTR industry. You can hire twice the people you need to do the job because it costs little to have them sitting around truck stops waiting for work. Who else gets to work their employees 70 hours a week for 40 hrs pay and 1 day off every 7 instead of 2? There laughing all the way to the bank.
It also makes the Gov look good getting people out of that box in the alley and into one on wheels. I mean who would not want to live in a box on wheels rather then one in a alley?

I have had driver after driver pop tall to proclaim how good the OTR lifestyle is. It leaves me wondering how crappy their lives must of been to believe that living in a truck for weeks at a time, working long hours, with no OT, and bad benefits, is good.

Yea I got mine. $500 in what 20 years ? Maintaining a living wage while I was there would have been better. I wonder if my old truck has blown up yet ? I nursed a major internal coolant leak on that thing for 2 years. Aw well Knight was never one to worry about small details like that.

 

Only been there one time, overloaded (after the shipping clerk said I'd be OK if I wasn't heavier than 36000 lbs mt), drove 1 mile south, scaled at the cotton gin?, came back, they took off one pallet, good to go. Not that big of a problem. Not one of the shuttle runs, though, I went to, I think, Wisconsin.

On the subject of tractor maintenance, the only complaint I have is that if it's not safety related, they would rather run you to a Knight shop before having it done elsewhere. Not sure I can fault them for that. (If my truck won't keep me comfortable, that IS a safety issue, IMHO!) OTOH, if I am in a terminal with a shop, and I write the tractor up for anything, they have always taken care of it.

Funny (interesting, not haha) how driver's experiences with Knight vary.

 

I got my bond after going thru you know what for over a year.This company should be avoided by all means.Everything laid out by Dave,Tracy,3.14, etc.
is right on the money.They will rip you off over and over again.The so called Safety Nazi head in Phoenix with a last name starting with R is someone to
watch out for.Do yourself a favor.Do not go to work for the Knight Company.
If you do, you will be very sorry!!!!

Welcome and chime in frequently. Together we CAN shut down Knight in it's tracks. I feel terrible I stayed so long. Day after day of fighting for what's yours gets old after awhile. They blame it on the economy. No, their just idiots who refuse to acknowledge one single drivers right to a living wage. This creates an angry workforce and then you end up getting what you pay for, which is nothing.

Shall be interesting to see how Knight turns CVSA2010 around to be the fault of the drivers. Maintenance at Knight is a joke just like the rest of the lieing, theving, conieving con artists at Knight that have such a bad taste in their mouths for drivers. Want proof, stay longer than a month and see for yourselves how they look at you in disbelief that you are still there.

When arriving two days late with some junk load that you just picked up from a terminal, the customer will be mad at you. So you be sure to reinforce the point how stupid and worthless Knight is. Express disbelief that they would treat them, the customer, this way and breath a sigh of relief you will be quitting as soon as they get around to getting you home.

For all the money and time they steal, all in the name of a slow economy, Knight can go to hell and burn.

a side note: carcass rulez! i don't care that they broke up in 1995. they're still awesome, nonetheless!

 

Yeah, I kind of miss those days of per diem,wasting a half day looking for mt's or pulling a local and being paid peanuts for it.Then getting a great load of maybe 300-400 miles, sure helps pay those bills.I also enjoyed not being reimbursed for layover and detainment and being told it was sent in, but had to be approved, only to find out later no payment was received.
Yes, those were the good old days of HELL!!!!
