My first post on truckers report so not sure how to go about this...
A few years OTR tractor trailer experience, took a break from the trucking industry and recently decided to get back into it.
Been looking at a company called MGL based out of Schiller Park, IL.
I've done a fair but of research into them and I've noticed some pros and cons as well as some red flags and I wanted to get some opinions, especially if anyone here works there.
The reviews on google look mostly positive, an overwhelming amount of 5 star reviews but I take that with a large grain of salt as reviews can be faked.
At first glance it looks like a typical Eastern European 1099 company out of Chicago. But they offer W2 for 5 cpm less.
As expected no benefits but private insurance is fine to me if I make enough money to make up for it.
Trucks come with things like inverter, microwave, fridge etc..
No forced dispatch (supposedly)
69 mph governor
1.5 days home for every week out
live load no touch, no drop and hooks
VERY short orientation (2-3 days)
Paid hotels and plane flight
Breakdown/deadhead/detention pay
You don't pay for fuel
No driver facing camera
Slip seat if long home time
They advertise 3000+ miles and $2500+ checks but I find that very hard to believe. (I know this is a lie unless you're running illegal)
I estimate for average solo driver pay I'm probably gonna make 900-1.5k a week
This will be my fourth trucking job in my career after a year break and I'm pretty much already very embittered about trucking in general. But I'm gonna try it again and see if I can make some kind of decent money.
My concerns are:
-Being forced to pay for any damages to the truck including minor wear and tear
-Being forced to run illegally over my hours
-I've heard rumors you pay into an escrow that you never get back and they don't pay you until your 3rd week
-Miles may actually be trash and I might end up sitting all week
-Everything the recruiter said being a lie
-They don't have a website and I can't find much info about them outside of their facebook, glassdoor and google business page
Anyone have any experience with this company?

Take pictures of the truck when it’s issued to you. Send email with pictures to safety and or your dispatcher.
Later on if they were to accuse you of damage you resend the email, that you sent on day one.
Usually they pay two weeks in the hole so you don’t have an escrow because they know most will say no to an escrow.
If you’re not making money then they’re not making money.
No one can make you violate hos.
All companies test you. If you refuse a load for a reasonable reason stick to your guns. They’ll find another load. -
