2 corrections. Illinois doesn't recognize any other states' permit. And Illinois has a unique law. If you have a concealed carry permit from your hone state or you come from a constitutional carry state, you may carry concealed loaded weapon in your vehicle only.MACK E-6, Nostalgic, ProfessionalNoticer and 1 other person Thank this.

Re: military bases. I know on all National Guard posts in Michigan, concealed carry is authorized, you just have to self-report. I carry on duty all the time, as well as in civilian clothes. As far as other states/bases, I would call ahead to verify. I'm also currently serving, waiting on my retirement paperwork to process, so getting on and off posts is much easier for me, disregarding carry status.
However, if I did have to deliver or pickup somewhere firearms were restricted, could you not go to the local sheriff dept and see if they would secure it for you while on post? I'm sure that would all depend on the local politics.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
