I’m four years in, mid 50s in age and I’ve developed a love hate relationship with OTR driving. Some days I think it’s the best job in the world and I can’t believe I’m getting paid for this, blah blah blah. Other days I wanna call up dispatch and use every curse word known to the human race and sing that song “take this Job and shove it”. But I’ve learned these times pass. You just ride them out and things get better again. Right now I’m leaning towards the old song “take this Job and shove it“ as I’m literally on my sixthenth consecutive live load that’s taking in excess of six hours. Not to mention extremely slow loads and not getting miles this past week. I brought it to their attention and they ignored it. Maybe next week will be better. Get a few more weeks strung together like this and I’ll be moving on. Lol

Dispatchers will chase off drivers. Even good ones and smart like yourself.

That's why the country has supply chain issues.

They'd have to be pretty desperate to even try, I didn't use small bolts putting it on.

Your plan is about like mine. I trade CFDs and the occasional currency pair. Maybe I'll get an old project truck to play around with too. Seems like a good idea if I get restless. Considering getting to real estate with some investment properties. There's a lot of ways to make money, but you can't replace the time that you give up. Haven't quit yet, though my mind is pretty much made up.

This is my last yr of driving, 51 yrs all as an O/O started in a 1970 GMC cab over to my KW 144 inch sleeper i drive now it really was the best but as i got older and have seen what has gone on in the trucking industry its truly time for me to say GoodBye. I use to enjoy it made alot of great friends out here and have lost some but the brotherhood has gone away. Look at some of these truckers and you will know what i mean. Sadly at one time we were the angels of the highways now were seen as a sore spot on the road and i blame the Big 5 who started this mess and the Government for changing things that were not broke. If they put speed limiters on trucks you watch how many bail from an industry thats already falling apart..

I respect my dispatchers but when they pull shady stuff with me, I WILL call them out on it. I’m not afraid of them. I know all their tricks and they don’t work on me. I also do NOT sit and babysit loads and other crap like that while out on the road when I could be at home for free. Do you want me to sit because you’re too lazy to assign me a tighter load? Then you’re gonna pay me for it.

    Rideandrepair and teams567 Thank this.

I agree. It's rare that I enjoy my job anymore. All I think of now is ...How fast can get this crap off the truck and get back home.
