I am trying to find a way to track MPG and Idle times on my fleet of trucks.
I have Cummins, Paccar, and Detroit.
From what I have heard Detroit software will run a report that you can print off, but I am not sure about Cummins and I highly doubt that the Davie software will do that for you.
If any of you use a generic software for these things I am very interested to know what that is!
Thank you!

If you're attempting to micro-manage drivers about their MPG and idle times, you aren't going to end up with quality drivers. You'll only end up with those that have little options. The vast majority of good, professional drivers aren't going to tolerate such nannying for very long. So, be careful. You may get your wish and lose out because of it.

The elog should track all of that, if equipped

Idling hurts the children.

Disagree....respectfully. Crappy drivers think any type of managing is micro. A professional driver understands and adjusts.Six9GS Thanks this.

Understand your point, but I don't agree. So, respectfully, we agree to disagree and the next round's on me!
Wish more disagreements could be so respectfully dealt with!God prefers Diesels and YumDinger Thank this. -
And the polar bears!AModelCat and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Tracking costs and wear and tear is one thing,
"managing" based on idle/mpg #s with no regard for why they may be high/low will only make you hated and as six9gs said only drivers with no options will stay
The tool already exists, for mpg its called math, requiring odo readings at fuelups should already be a thing you do
For idle, id lay money on the elog provider having it availableRideandrepair Thanks this. -
Yes, it does. Vibration is not a good thing for whitebait learning to swim.

Yes and no. At this point, while fuel is going up to the cosmos it becomes more and more obvious to install APU to save a buk or two.
In the mean time, how is it possible to have a fleet and have no idea to reset the trip reading before the truck is going out? Truck comes back, just look at the idle time accumulated during the trip and multiply it by whatever the idle gallons per hour on that model is.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
