I am in the process of obtaining my CLP in the state of Illinois. I live in Chicago and I have been out of work for a year so I need something that will provide me paid training. I spoke with a Schneider recruiter and am wondering if there is any others I should speak with.
Newbie question: Schneider training?

Unless you can solidly document your year off, Schneider will put you on ignore.
SAS Thanks this. -
The recruiter seen my resume and didn't mention anything to me.
Chinatown Thanks this. -

@SAS --
Schneider veteran here.
Now, I do hazmat tanker duty, hauling fuel....mostly in FL and GA (but not with Schneider).
This same topic was discussed recently, in another thread (but don't take that the wrong way, either).
There are actually companies out there that will actually pay you a salary while you get your CDL with them (in lieu of you having to pay them several thousand dollars), and then give you a job after you get it.
At least one of them will also provide food and lodging as well, while you go through their program.
But....good ol' Schneider isn't the only one of them out there.

To draw a salary while you get your CDL, you can look up/check out these other companies:
Western Dairy Transport
Roehl Transport
R E West Tranportation
The first one is a milk tanker company (and the one I would recommend you try, first).
The second one is more like Schneider.
The third does dry van, flat bed, and heavy haul/multi-axle.
Choose you flavor.
