On this, I will concur. Emissions and sensor issues are the bane of new vehicles.

Did you even bother to report him to the company or ask him to stop doing that, or did you just sit there frustrated that there wasn't a camera taking a picture of it all?

It was a really bad attempt at an analogy. The kind that trolls often use when an argument against their point is starting to gain credibility.

Back in the 90's we would change drivers going down the freeway. I had a team driver who would watch a 5" tv while he drove & wake me up as he veered onto the rumble strips. A couple months ago I got a ticket for moving my cellphone from the dash to the passenger seat. Had to pay a lawyer $300 to get it dismissed. WA State will let you drive like a manic but don't get caught touching your phone.

i don't think caermas may always improve safety scores, may improve clarity of what happpened. i know for certain, that a lot of drivers i known prefer the no cameras in the truck. companies can use that as a perk or selling point to attract more drivers. actually the company i was with had no cameras but similar companies did, and alot of drivers left those companies to go to work for the one i was at for a big reason was the no cameras in the truck.

I agree. When a company says they do not have the ability to turn on the cameras whenever they want... they are lying.

Man I would be showing off my front and back sides. I'd make whoever had to check that camera footage wish to hell they didn't have that job.

Yeah, it kind of makes me sad, but this stuff marks the end of my driving days. I will never drive again.
My last employer camera kept busting me for stupid stuff, but I had noticed that I absolutely never even came close to a near-miss when driving. It was alarming to me how many violations I could accrue from a camera—even as a very safe driver.

Trucking is a job that puts an intense burden on drivers to be able to think on their feet and be creative problem-solvers. At the same time, the cameras put an intense requirement on these very same people to be robotically obedient. There's an incompatible inconsistency here. When you put the two together, you're basically asking for a smart and creative slave—something that's almost impossible to find. You rarely can have both personality characteristics at the same time. In fact, the nature of a creative person usually involves a lot of testing of limits in order to learn what happens. You might...find very few people who can manage to be both at the same time. Some trucking company will swear that they have a couple drivers like that. They probably have a couple that can juggle, too. But if you expect to maintain a fleet of thousands of drivers, and expect them all to put up with this kind of thing, you're going to have a trucker shortage. Exhibit A. As for me, I got a job outside of trucking, in fact, a state job. I'm doing just fine now.
