I drive at night and seem to keep hitting pockets of fish flies (may flies) that explode across the windshield making a terrible mess. All the wipers seem to do is spread the mess around and trying to clean the windshield after getting fuel barely makes a difference. Is there an old time trucker tip to deal with this situation
Fish Flies And Dirty Windshield, what do you use to clean them?

have a venus fly trap plant on the dashboard..??
seriously, use a dishwasher liquid in the washer tank, (make sure you flush it out before October).
use RainX on the windshield
look for windshield specific polish/wax's
take along some sort of nylon scrubbing pad, (safe for glass) get up there, clean the windshield at each fueling or each night.
or, just do not drive at night, or try a different route?Another Canadian driver and pumpkinishere Thank this. -
I buy the windshield cleaner spray at Costco, pack of 4. Good stuff.

I 2ed the dawn dish wash soap added to washer tank. When you wash your windows with your brush the dried soap comes back to help clean up the bug guts.

Living and ran down here a lot I would get a reservoir fill bottle of the green stuff with 2 inches left in it. Add one refill bottle of windex and 3/4 cup of dawn. Mix gently and fill a spray bottle. Once you hit the shade of the fuel island, spray windows. Give it a couple minutes too work but not dry. Clean your windows as normal. This amount -should- get you through summer.
