I generally don't get much into goodbye threads. Each of us should know our strengths and weaknesses. You gave it a try and found it is not for you. Just a note. Leaving trucking does not mean you have to leave TTR! Hang around, I have not operated a commercial vehicle in almost 10 years. They have not run me off yet!

Like moose said you don’t need to leave TTR but if you do we wish you the very best in your next endeavor.

 

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Thanks for the kind words. Don't feel like you have to run off. TTR uses only gluten-free recycled electrons so it will never run out of space for anyone. You might one day find a type of trucking job that will fit you. There is a little bit of everything in trucking. It's not a mistake to learn from your experience. The real mistake is not even trying.

I wish there was some way to let people know this is a weird job
Telling them about the long hours doesnt really sink in because something like driving , it is possible to put them in
You cant explain about the cumulative fatigue from running hard like a training company needs you to do
Some guys think they dont get lonely then find out that wasnt true
The big thing you cant explain either though is that it does get easier after about three months
I always try to get folks to do a few months once they are in their own truck before packing it in
There are weird muscles you develop in this game but it takes time

 

FINALLY,, an honest person. Hey, no need to be a stranger, trucking clearly interested you, and like many, especially me that hasn't driven in 10 years, still wants to be in the loop, sort of, and this site is the best way. Many of the "good" people in the industry you speak of are right here. Trucking has a slew of possibilities, it's what makes trucking unique, you just didn't find it, yet. I say, do something else for a spell, and stay tuned. With todays drivers market, it's something you can always count on, and not many jobs you can say that today. For example, my very last trucking gig, was a seasonal job at a cranberry farm. I loaded and spotted open top trailers for road drivers to take to the plant, no CDL, no health card, never got out of low range, ,we had a blast, so hang in there, and good luck.
