    I owned a 13’ Maxxforce 13 with 475hp/1850tq engine.

That engine was so good to me, mainly because I was always working it - 100,000lbs + daily kept everything clean.

I know what your saying. But I have learned the truck engine. And it's actually good motor if you learn why they are bad that's why I created post.My issue is really more with truck quality and ridiculous parts prices than engine.I realized I was going to fail if I didn't learn the engine.I also learned dealerships blow alot of bs up your butt.My fleet has less down time than all the others running alot of volvos, Pete's freightliners. My trucks also stay within 300 miles of home.Another reason I have been able to learn the engine. Not stuck across the country at mercy of dealers bs.When your running 6-8 of same truck you learn alot.

Most people aren't capable of working on.And alot of driver's drove them on roll out before issues were fixed. It took 5 years. The engine is so good in Vietnam where alot of the trucks ended up.3 million miles on engine.mann and Caterpillar build good engines. Its just a very complicated emissions system. On top of international not giving any solutions.

Ok so your trucks stay within 300 miles, do they idle? Do they run 600+ empty miles? The Mack I drive runs nonstop in the hot months from the time I get in it Sunday night until the time I get home Friday morning. Idles for 10+ hours a day, runs a PTO for 1-2 hrs a day, runs empty 1k+ miles a week and never had issues with the DPF/SCR. Can't say the same about the Navistars...

It is only a metter of time with this kind of use.
    I would recommend APU.

Due to age the truck is more the issue than engine.I personally can run them all anywhere with no worries. But I have drivers who can't fill tires. And rip off airlines. For these drivers only a brand new truck goes far. Most of mine pull 82- 90k I way and empty back.3 of them run about 3000k per week each
