    Looking forward to hearing how things are going once you get started. I know a driver who started with Knight through their school. He is coming up on a year running flatbed with them, and he really likes it. His only gripe is that he can't stay south enough for his liking (running out of the Kansas City terminal).

    i was off 4 years a company in amarillo called dee king trucking hired me put me with someone for a week then gave me a new volvo 860 75mph apu tv fridge and dish network but got sick of reefer and moved on i know theres a meat load they get that delivers in miami

    Reefer definitely not for everyone. I have seen some threads where Chinatown has recommended Dee King Trucking to people needing another chance. How is it as a company? Was it pretty good as far settlements and such?

    Its was good started at 55cpm then to 60 after a month or 22%/25% of load just too much flip flopping days/nights for me mostly preload out of tyson/cargill in tx panhandle

    From my understanding, even if you drove OTR for years then go local and try to go back OTR, many of the companies treat you like a rookie in as you will need to go out with a trainer. Is that what you’re asking?

    When you say refresher course, I’m thinking of CDL school where some students did a quick week course to learn how to shift manually again or things like that.

    I think based on your past experience, most of the companies will treat you like a rookie driver. This is just from what I’ve seen in the job market and requirements.

    That's not true. Going out with a trainer would only apply to a driver who has been out of a class A vehicle for years.

    Just stating what I’ve witnessed when experienced drivers went local, then went back OTR after a few years. I doubt it’s a concrete policy one way or another as every company is different, but OP has no real experience. He should plan on being treated as a new driver and being with a trainer.

    I promise that you haven't witnessed a driver go from OTR, to local driving, back to OTR with the requirement of going out with a trainer upon returning to OTR. That didn't happen, if a driver maintains a driving position. Well, I suppose that could happen if a driver has less than a year of experience with OTR. Once a driver reaches 2 years of driving OTR, maintaining a but in a seat driving is sufficient to show that the driver still has the chops for it. The driver would have to go out on a road test, but every driver has to do that when hiring on with a new company.

    You broke your promise. Because I know for a fact that several (now) older drivers switched to local, then went back OTR after several years, and each one had to go out with a trainer for whatever the companies policy was. These drivers don’t know each other. They all gave me this as things to consider on my journey.

    I know one who is kind of internet famous, was OTR, took 2 months off (if that) and still had to go out with a trainer at JB Hunt.
