Fire it up and take it for a ride. Plug it in and confirm the kms. The mouse problem will cost about 5k if they haven't eaten the wiring. I did it once. There are foam inserts behind all the interior panels. Daycab co sells new interior kits pretty reasonably. I had to strip a cab to aluminum inside and replace all the flooring, seats, foam and panels. It was well worth it. Best of luck. If you don't want it let me know I would love to have it.

 

I purchased a 2000 379 almost 2 years ago... 525 N14, 18 speed, 11R24.5s, barn friends, the whole nine you're describing...for $35k.

Since then, I've had to replace springs, tires, bushings, some wiring, air lines, hoses, and lots of bulbs...and other stuff. I've probably put another $35k in it at the shop. Some of the work I've done and some I don't have the space or tools to do, so I let the "professionals" take care of it...which leads me to my point, If you cannot work on this truck yourself, I would pass. It is a pleasure to drive and I wouldn't trade the experience but looking back, $70k would have bought so much more.

You're not seeing ALL the nickels and dimes you'll bleed after you purchase this truck. That said, I'm happy to own mine, but I've "wasted" money by doing so.

However, life isn't all about money and efficiency...sometimes, you need to be in a space that makes you content. When I'm away from my family for weeks, I like being in my hot rod. This is an emotional justification for me, not a financial one. In fact, the transmission is on its last leg and I've been babying it for a while. By the time I "fix" all the issues, I'll be in a truck I've spent $100k on, cash, and it'll be ready for another million miles. At that point, this truck will roll past all the others in terms of value, in my opinion.

 

I’ve got a 94 Pete 378 I got for $7500, since then i’ve already put new water pump $600, had the tires so saved about $3000 there.
But I could easily spend another 10-15k on bringing it back to where I want it.
Luckily I don’t need it to work so It only costs $500 per 6 months for insurance sitting there.

I just looked up the interior panels. Double my 5k. Inflation and all. I would still take it if you don't want it.

 

Wonder how long it’s been sitting? Drive tires look to have good tread. They also have a manufacture date. No telling what’s dry rotted, or what’s still perfectly fine. Mileage is low. Less than half of an average 20 yr. old OTR Truck. Value really depends on how much you want it. The frame and wiring as mentioned are always most important to me. Original wiring that’s not chopped up, or fuse panels rotted from leaks. The mice? I don’t know? Nice Truck, regardless. Engine and trans are probably fine. Brake lines, belts, hoses, rubber bushings, wheel seals, pitted wheel bearings, can all be changed. The Truck would have needed those things anyways, if it had been working the whole time. Always a market for nice old Pete’s. Like a classic car that needs restoring, everyone looks for a deal on original price. In reality it’s not that important, $500 or $5000, doesn’t matter that much, considering the amount that gets spent on restoration may be $20k. What matters most is if it’s what you’re looking for. Nice original condition is always worth paying more for upfront.

I have a friend right now that is in this boat he texted me the other day telling me that the truck he thought he bought cheap has finally ate up his savings

And he doesn't know what to do because he has 100k in a 60k truck that still needs work and is not dependable
I'am simply saying it's the little things that you find on the journey that end up eating your check book 500.00 here then 700 there then you end up fixing things right .. because just like @wore out said .. some butcher took the cost cutting short cut and other things became a victim of the short cut
Speaking from somebody that has salvaged more than 1 or 2 trucks from the dead
There's been some friendly warning about mouse damage .. I noticed nobody has said a single world about what mouse pee can do to electrical components.. this that might function today because it has been idle for a extended period of time .. but when they are used on a daily bases they start to fail.. and the idea oh yeah 5000k buys yeah a new interior kit.. no big deal that's seems reasonable.. yeah till.you tear the old interior out and your find that there's corrosion under support braces ot it's fatigued around the walk thru or the cab supports .. and know you have to pony up 800 or 1200 for better sound suppression. And your air bags cab mounts radiator mounts and bushings and motor mounts are all dry rotted or worn out ..
I would make this post a novel by telling about all the wiring labor hours spent tracing wires .. and just caused you drop 3000k on a new wire harness doesn't mean that fixing all your electrical issues .. I could go on & on ,& on But I've said my piece

 

That wasn't necessary directed at you.. it was more of a rebuttal towards the few that posted I they think you just break out a check book that fits the obvious issues
Apparently they have not undertaken a project like this
