This is why I wouldn't work for em. I live in Bentonville and I won't drive for em. I don't wanna be micromanaged. I would go work in a amazon warehouse if I wanted that.

The ELD thing is hard to understand what happened exactly. The ELD should log the exact time truck stopped. Ours and I think all wait the 5 minutes but once it automatically changes it go back 5 minutes to the exact time truck stopped. Basically it's giving drivers 5 minutes like in traffic jam of stop and go traffic before it automatically switches duty. Then if you start driving it can put you back on driving automatically.

I read something on here about Walmart wanting their drivers to get out and walk around truck and basically make sure dock was empty before backing into dock to drop trailer at the store. If they cough you on their camera system not doing this, even if looked say as you setup to back trailer into dock. It was point or warning. You get in trouble even if you know dock is empty. You actually have get out walk around truck everytime no matter what.

Probably stems from all the incidents involving people getting run over at the docks(homeless people who were sleeping under the trailers).

Yup. When they put the DC in Red Bluff I thought it might be a good deal for me. I took some tests, (lots of tests) did interviews with supervisors and peer groups,(lots of interviews) passed all the background checks, and was scheduled to start.
I thought it over and decided not to go. I don't know why. Too much regimentation I think. Maybe it was the uniforms. Could have been the glassy little smile that everyone seemed to have...kinda like the Stepford Wives. When they gave me a mini-tour of the DC everyone was so nice. So pleasant. With their glassy little smiles. It was scary, like maybe they put something in the water. Even the mechanics in the shop were smiling and nice. That was the last straw.
If you want to drive WalMart human resources pencil pushers crazy, qualify to work for them, go through all the steps, and then refuse the job. They got a little strident about it. It wasn't that I was anything special but I fit all the categories...experience, minority, and a veteran.
I never regretted my decision. Except maybe on payday once in awhile.

Sometimes I just blank and check the road for puddles when the light turns for some reason and barely miss it. That sounds like the same garbage I dealt with DC side. You really have no job security at Walmart at any level and they discriminate by age.

They’d fire managers who were independent or old just to keep the cogs nice and lubed. I had engineering experience before I was a picker there and they made me pick every day so I wouldn’t “try to change everything”. Not like I do that now. I take a load. Take another load. Take another load. Recruit a driver. Get paid. I lived what you just went through.

I guess I don’t understand why you’d get in trouble for cussing? I mean good night of living, you’re grown men. And truck drivers to boot. That’d be it for me tho. My mantra is “cussing always helps “
First time I’d crank a trailer down after a rainstorm and grab the dolly handle and get that nice gush of water that comes out of it, all over my pants, I’d let the expletives fly and that’d be it for me.

I have a new neighbor, bought the house 4 doors down from me. I stopped by one day to check out a 70's Camaro he was selling and found out he drives for Walmart. I asked him about it and he flat-out said he HATED working there, but nobody else will pay him $130k and give him the 6 weeks of time off he currently gets, so he keeps on working for them.

We have lots of rules too, but I'll do over 130K w 6 weeks vacation and home nearly every night. And the one's I don't make it back I do a hotel and get 45 bucks for dinner.
That's why what that WM driver said sticks true with me.

That is correct. The safety man will even tell that he does it randomly using the stores camera. I get being proactive about safety, but to think they actually take the time to watch you on cameras is kind of damning
