hello everyone,
i figured i’d finally do an intro thread. i’ll be honest, i told my myself and for the last probably 25 years i’d never drive a truck. what i came to realize was how misguided i was. funny thing is my dad does dedicated, my brother does local, my uncle has 10 trucks he runs, my other uncle drives a concrete truck, and my mom is a dispatcher lol.
but i finally found a good woman that supports my shenanigans, and with her being active duty military (after we got together) i’ve found so many more opportunities that eventually require no OTR. plus i’m tired of working retail.
got my CLP last month, waiting to hear back from the VA for my VER stuff. but for now, i’m exploring my options on paying for school and the possibility of having to go to a company to cover my training.
Local tech college has a long waiting list or i would have already been in their program. Millis Transfer looks to have their own school i can pay upfront for and not be in any contract, plus they have training facilities in both GA and NC. Roehl already told me i’m outside of their hiring area but will revisit that if need be. maybe @Chinatown or other can see if i’m missing something or haven’t thought of something
thanks in advance
lurked, joined, time for introduction

Greetings...and welcome to the Forum.
This is a great place...with some really helpful people.
You'll get some much better feedback here, if you can disclose as to what city/state you are closest.
Also: in what type(s) of freight do you think you're most interested?

OK, I checked, Greensboro is closest at 83 miles. That's too far for a local job.
