Hello guys I was on my way to a delivery and a guy hit my trailer in the Walmart parking lot. Didn’t do a lot of damage but enough to mess up my door or rather bend the back post. Anyways driver lied about his name but I have his MC# and DOT# anyways I spoke with the insurance adjuster & said the owner said no one name Jason works for his company so now I have to prove he hit my trailer I called Walmart but I don’t believe they gonna release any footage! Also my dash cam is only recording when driving!!!! Any advice would be helpful

You didn't ask for his driver license? This is the reason why drivers are supposed to carry a license, registration, and insurance documents in the vehicle.

Call walmart again and explain the situation, try to get them to agree to find the video that recorded the incident and release it. Worst case scenario, they decline, and you can ask your insurance to hire an attorney to subpoena that footage.

What did your insurance say about the incident when you told them?

So someone hit your truck and you got a name and a MC/USDOT number. That’s it? There’s no way you should have parted ways without taking a picture or writing his info down from his insurance and drivers license. If they refuse, call the cops. They likely won’t do a report since private property but will ensure you get the information.

When my trailer got hit. I called my insurance company while taking photos.

I still have them on phone almost a year later and it’s been resolved,, his boss paid to fix mine, and didn’t go through insurance.

Bean Jr. and Siinman Thank this.

    Dude, you're screwed......seriously.
    Ask yourself this:
If you owned a trucking company and some random dude calls in and says your truck hit him with little more than a first name, license plate number, and a MC number, would you be in a fever to cut him a check?
I can go to the local truck stop and get any number of license plate number and MC numbers. That means nothing.
Furthermore, how does the owner of the company know that YOU didn't screw up your own truck and now you're trying to dodge an arse chewing by saying some random dude did it?

Here's the deal: Trucking is an ugly business filled with liars and scammers and we trust no one. The adage around here is, "Pics, or it didn't happen."

Better luck next time. You learn a little every day. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way. Sorry this had to be a bad way.
