Is it a decent company? I know they have a school and thinking about going but I don't much about the company or trucking. Has anyone attended the school?

    Thank you

I went to their school to get my Cdl. I put my year in and went to another company. No complaints about my training. It’s a good way to start in LTL trucking. Way better than any mega truckload carrier.

My terminal will send you to a CDL school, pay for your schooling along with 8 hours of pay for being there each day until you graduate. And the usual one year contract applies unless you want to pay back the tuition cost (which will run $4k-$7k).

Job and pay are decent and the benefits are phenomenal. Equipment is going to suck pretty much wherever you go.

The thing you need to worry about is the stability of the company. Government owns $350 million of the company and we are getting ready to have to pay this loan back. Yellow has found the worst possible time to struggle, given the state of the economy and the looming recession.

But on the other hand, if you need the training and a decent job, go for it. Worst case scenario you will be stuck there for a year and may hate it. Best case scenario, you are stuck there for a year and love or hate it, but the company does a spectacular flameout and tanks completely, in which case you don't have to pay back tuition.

This just in- if you whine loud enough and long enough about the debt you owe the federal government, they'll just forgive it.

Run that up the flagpole, roadrunner.

    You're welcome.

What made you decide to leave for another company?

Didn’t want to do sleeper teams or be on the extra board 24/7. If the terminal your hiring onto is not a large hub you may not have to worry about teams or 24/7 extra board.
