I've always heard there's no OT at SAIA, and if you do get any, they take it back in a short week the next week.

I’ve personally have yet to hear of that sort of chicanery going on at Saia, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Not every terminal pays OT, and I believe that’s primarily based on state law. One exception though is the FXF terminal near mine. They pay OT but will cut your hours and even give you Friday off to make sure you don’t get any.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
MACK E-6 Thanks this.

Saia is all about the Numbers (OT) especially if the terminal manager is on thin ice.

To this day even after working for four years for them, I still don't know what the actual overtime policy at Saia is, I have been linehaul the whole time so it never applied to me, all I have been told by P&D drivers in both Arizona and Nevada is that any hours after 40 hours in a 5 day pay period are paid overtime, however on various forums on the good ole interweb I have read where some Saia drivers have said its after 45 hours in a pay period, mostly from drivers back east, could be possible considering drop and hooks for linehaul drivers are paid differently for west coast vs east coast linehaul drivers.

I put in 2.5 years at Saia and I’m glad I walked away.
They micromanage you like there’s no tomorrow.
Driver facing camera’s they WEAPONIZE against you.
They hire a lot of scrubs who don’t do pre-trips and post-trips properly if even at all.
Can’t tell you how many times I’d have to take another truck because mine was in the shop and I’d go to check the fluids and the oil is 2-6 qts LOW, bare minimum of coolant, no washer fluid and 9 million bugs on the windshield. The interior was trashed, food wrappers and used napkins on the floor, empty beverage bottles…and guess what? Management simply did not care because there was ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, no standards and no repercussions.
Run. Like. Hell. -
P&D in Virginia was OT after 45 and you never got it. They would cut your runs before they let you get very deep into OT pay. Occasionally, they would offer a line haul run instead of your p&d but it was paid separately from your hourly so still no OT.
Agreed on trashy trucks and poor upkeep and accountability.
Easily one of the worst jobs I've ever had the experience of working.
