I have know men who at 79 were sharp and totally fit for most jobs.
I worked once on a crew with an 80 year old water truck driver who was always jumping out of the truck to help me toss chains and secure my load.
That guy could keep up with anyone on the crew, it was amazing
I have however known MANY OTR drivers who are at deaths door in their 60s.
This job is hard on your body and if you dont take care of yourself you will age fast.
Sounds like this poor old guy should not have been drivingSiinman and takeheed777 Thank this. -
Oh for the love of.....what is it idiot hour? First we have moron A who crashed into a parked vehicle after several other incidents. And then we have moron B who thought sleeping on a shoulder was a good idea.....
What the actual hell were they thinking. With the sharp rise in shoulder accidents do you think they are going to look at it and say "well golly gee these people are running out of time on Elogs we had better go fix that"? No what they are going to dobis consider us threats, add more regulations make it so this kind of accident is ALWAYS the truckers fault no matter what and likely tighten ELD mandates.Siinman, takeheed777 and The Crossword Trucker Thank this. -

We just had an 82 year old driver retire from our company. He spent the last few years toodling around at his leisure, as I guess you’re entitled to at 82, picking up old trucks from our terminals and bringing them back to Dallas on a flatbed to be put up for sale. He would do circles around 20 something year olds in chaining and securing the trucks in the heat or cold. Both his parents are still alive at 101 years old. Some people just have those longevity genes.Siinman, Magoo1968, Moon_beam and 1 other person Thank this.

What many don't get about shoulder parking is it also requires shoulder entrance into oncoming traffic. What if this idiot had jumped in front of this oncoming traffic? It's maddening.Moon_beam Thanks this.
