I wish him the best . But like my Father used to say "Some people wouldn't be happy if you hung them with a brand new rope."

Just to make sure I'm following things:
    • Daeske owns SPD - a flatbed specialty carrier
    • Daeskse owns RMG - a dry van company that does a lot of DoD contracts
    • Daeskse owns Wiley - a flatbed company
    • A couple years ago Daeske put SPD under/with RMG in an attempt to lower operating costs and create 'synergy'
    • A couple weeks ago Daeske decided that wasn't working out and moved SPD under/with Wiley
    Is that right?

RMG happened in June of this year when our ceo retired.

    Wiley was announced on Tuesday.

So to a point I get SSB's angst, the movement from 'independent' subsidiary to a 'partner' with RMG then a switch to Wiley within 6 months is a sign for folks to smarten up their resumes - particularly those in the office. I also understand how he feels burned by his previous Wylie experience.

But Wylie was owned by Daeske at that point (I think), so the ultimate direction of the company was set by Daeske. So why would a reasonable person expect a difference in philosophy between the two subsidiaries? Or be surprised by a merger between two 'independent' subsidiaries doing the same business?

I'll further point out that SSB started down his "everyone is incompetent but me" road with the permits on his first OD load, then a few posts later went on to complain that OD pay wasn't worth it because he couldn't run how he wanted to. It brought me back to when I first posted on his Crete thread. I thought he was a newish driver who was struggling to see the forest because of all the trees around him and tried to offer some perspective. The fact that I could misinterpret his posts to be from a a new driver is telling. We all knew this was coming, it was just a matter of the catalyst.

I don't recall saying a #### word about routing on my 1st OD load...this recent load, I did mention that the routing was odd, and even @kylefitzy agreed that they were running us an unusual way... but since he's an experienced OD hauler, I guess you're o.k. with that.

It seems as though as long as I am posting about all the unicorns and rainbows are all around me, and all is right with the world, everyone is cool with that, but when things hit a bump and take a negative turn for a while, then it is a dog pile...well, I will solve all of that...It seems as though so many follow my adventures just waiting on the chance to pile on...I have the solution...Mods, end this thread and lock it...and I won't waste anyone elses time by posting another word...so everyone can do what I am gonna do and find something else to occupy my time other than wasting it here on the forum...

    Have a nice day

Bumper, D.Tibbitt and Rugerfan Thank this.

Not going to lock or close it. There is some good info in this thread. And you should look at how many posts supported you and ignore the rest.

I for one get it SSB please keep posting. I agree with the #### on me once shame on me do it again and I am the dumb ###. Get out while you can. If you have that gut feeling trust your gut after all in the end it is you and Mrs. SSB who need to be happy with the end result. I see you as old school give me a truck a load and leave me alone.
I left 30 yrs of my life out on that god forsaken highway and reading about the way it is today makes me glad I do not have to deal with it anymore. This new wave of drivers and carriers has destroyed what used to be an enjoyable wat to make a living if you were cut out for the solitary lifestyle. Drivers like yourself and Johnboy really surprise me that you are still out there with the way it is today although sound like Johnboy is close to the end also enjoy your retirement or whatever you decide to do in the future. Goodluck.

SSB, my advice to you is this…just wait to wait see how it transpires but at the same time have back up plans in place in case…if it goes south then just tell them it’s been great but I don’t think this will work and move on…making a knee jerk reaction is never good before seeing how it actually turns out..
