We were in the pick up today. Went out to Belmont OH. Took the interstate out. It was icy and the Volvos weren’t slowing down. I opted for the snowy side roads on the way back. Not much traffic and everyone was driving cautiously. Been showing my girlfriend the difference and why I’d rather she stay home if possible or at least stay off the interstates.

If its not a pre 2000 jeep, its only worth its weight in scrap, thats it. By all means, go ahead, prove to me that my 13 years of driving that forester was terrible despite extremely low cost of ownership and plenty of winter driving.
Probably any vehicle is about as safe as its driver's competence with conditions. Driving like a moron will put you in a ditch no matter what vehicle it isducnut, Rideandrepair, Kyle G. and 1 other person Thank this. -

From Omaha to Davenport along I-80 today their must be atleast 50 trucks jack knifed or completely rolled over in the median and down in the side ditches. Thursday from St. Joseph, MO up to the Iowa state line on 29 they had about 15 of them in the same situation...
Doesn't even look like they received an inch of snow... Maybe I'm wrong though....
Of course the main player is Amazon with about 5 or 6 trucks jack knifed between the two interstates...
But those of us that have done the job correctly for years upon years are going to get punished with speed limiters because of the action of these folks.

Sad - they'll wreck just the same at 60, 63, 65, or 70 mph.

Not much snow yes. Around here it's the combination of a fairly heavy rain Thursday night dropping to single digit temps means that a solid sheet of ice formed on the roads. That combined with the wind and temps low enough salt isn't working as good as it could is the issue here.
