This was on 29 near St. Joseph... Pretty bad... Western Express also had a truck laying on its side.

Simply because people won’t drive according to conditions…everyone is in a big hurry…not to mentio doing everything under the sun while driving except driving properly..like paying attention

I was curious. It seems like you cover a lot of miles. You don't take the winter months off either.

Also we drove some of the same roads. Mine was at night, looks like you drove daytime.

Thanks for posting that, although after seeing it, I couldn't turn on the computer for days it bothered me so. As if their actions aren't heinous enough, they have to film it. Almost like some sort of badge of honor. Naturally, the comments are priceless, but for someone to actually post this on YouTube, I can't wrap my head around that mentality. The dash cam is supposed to save your axx, not incriminate it.
So,,,what's the answer, folks? I know these things happen fast, and LEOs are simply overwhelmed, can't blame them, but you'd think, a cop would be maybe 1/4 mile back, overheads on, warning morons of impending danger ahead. Info boards every mile?
The internet is surprisingly lack on any information regarding the mindset of the multi vehicle crash. Several factors apply, I feel, compared to years ago, when we NEVER saw this kind of behavior. So the things that ARE different are: cell phone, instant gratification, vehicles that have morphed into magic carpets, that 70mph doesn't feel any different than 30, giving a false impression of speed, increased age of drivers causing all kinds of problems they may never know they created, combine all those, and it's a recipe for disaster. Practically everything in our society has become better and faster. To plod along at seemingly horse and buggy speeds, is about the only thing that still adheres to the past and unacceptable in our modern society for most. It's amazing to me, how this kind of activity goes on time and time again, as if it's okay. Well, it's NOT okay, not in the world I lived and worked in. Since this won't be over for a while, about all one can do is warn loved ones, if you are in a backup, PARTICULARLY the last one, be ready to bail, it's almost guaranteed some schmuck is going to plow into the mess.

I've been out here since 1986. I've seen a lot through the years. Lots of changes all across-the-board. The newer drivers out here are getting braver and dumber.
It's not Just the 4 wheelers out here either. it's the commercial drivers as well. Everybody is making up their own rules.

It's just like the tunnels on PA Turnpike.
More and more drivers are using the left lane going through the tunnels because the people in the right lane are just not going fast enough. When they do that they're creating a very dangerous situation.
You can preach all the safe driving experience that you have till you're blue in the face and it goes in one ear and out the other. People seem to think that they're going to be the exception to the rule.

I wear glasses and have 2020 corrected vision. My 1st rule is to not be out there to begin with when it gets white out conditions. And If you pay attention to the weather you knew that that was going to happen to begin with so why plan to be out there? It's called get there itus.

I really slow down so that if I happen to see something in front of me I'm going to be traveling at a speed and distance to where I am able to stop with respect to the road conditions. If I can't see, I don't know how the heck these people that are passing me can see. The truth of the matter is, they can't see.

They are Driving blind and once they see the traffic stopped in front of them, it's too late. The state Is partially Is to blame for this mess. PA turnpike has restrictions all the time whenever weather is going to turn nasty. Why doesn't Ohio do the same?

I pulled out of Vermilion, Oh Monday morning after the storm had passed. I was on my way to Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin with a load of cars. I saw so many 18 wheelers and cars in the median, in OH and IN that I lost count.

All I can say is, better them than me!
    Hopefully they learned something.

By the way, I've had one accident in my life. It was all the way back in 1988. I had less than 2 years at the time. When it was over with, the cab on the KW cabover truck was nearly ripped completely off of the frame and all the windows were shattered. I hit a CF pulling doubles head on.

I was empty that day, driving like a maniac like most people do today. I was driving too fast according to the other drivers who saw it. Roads were slick in spots. I was pulling a dry van trailer and I was empty.

It was a lesson that I will never forget!

Well, see, that's the thing, for whatever reason we can find, people AREN'T learning a lesson, this has been going on for 15 years, about the same time the cell phone came out. It amazes me, we have to have devices to save us from other devices. I'm sure HOS has a lot to do with it too. Years ago, we got there when we got there, and were thanked for doing so. Today, with everything electronic, the computer doesn't know it's slippery, and with 20 minutes to go before a shutdown, or whatever, it adds an element of stress for the truck driver, something I never had to deal with. I swear, if I saw ONE truck in the ditch, it was enough for me to back out of it, and like I say, with a CB, we knew all about it. CB will never make a comeback, and we'll have to deal with this until some politicians family gets wiped out.

I think many use the electronics as an excuse because it’s convenient just like many other things…shippers and receivers who haven’t gotten their act together in loading and unloading trucks in timely fashion needs to addressed in regards to wasted time..if it means stop hauling for those folks, then so be it..
