An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

There is one of our stretch trailers picking up where I am. His trailer has a single axle flip(kicker)...except, when the big forklift picked it up to flip it, it to ####ed and then got stuck. He is picking up a 65,000 lb generator...I am picking up some random pieces (legal size)...in total there are 9 pieces to this order requiring many trucks. One problem is, when they dispatched me on the load it said I was picking up 9 pieces, not that I was picking up some of the 9 pieces. By the time it got sorted out, they were already staging the OD trucks and cranes to load the big boys...so now I am last to load. I have up until 2/1 to deliver this(can deliver any time after 1/27) so, I guess there isn't a major rush either way. Plus, the address they gave me isn't where the shipper says the load is going... apparently we are staging this at a crane rental location until the contractor is ready for the equipment

Any day I don't have to throw tarps, it's a good day!!!! ...and less than 10,000 lbs to boot.

 

I made it to Brigham City last night. When I checked the weather forecast prior to picking this load up, there was no mention of snow for the entire trip. When I woke up this morning to leave, there was a fresh 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground and most of the roads down thru SLC were red and orange, and US89 was orange and red all the way down to Price, so I delayed my departure. Only real snow I saw after leaving late was just before Price canyon. Then the fun begins. Since a day or two after leaving home, I have had my little amber engine shaped night light on, but no code on the Peoplenet...and since the truck has been running fine, I am not too concerned. I stopped in Gallup to hit Walmart, then rolled east...about 15 miles down the road, I noticed that the 'total miles' on the Peoplenet was 0...then I get the square 'check' light...and on top of that, my turn signal indicators on the dash blink really fast, but all the outside lights blink normal(and all of them are working)....oh, and my APU is all but useless...it has gotten so unreliable that I don't even turn it on. Thankfully it has been cold enough that my truck idles all night. I can't wait to get home...I have requested home time early next month...maybe I'll just park this POS at the local Sweedish Dog dealer and let them take their sweet time fixing it.
