No not like that..he said he got called because the safety guy said he had to call because he was required to..They can turn the sensitivity of those things up or down. The company I am with now chooses not to do that. If something happens then they will pull the cam..otherwise I am not being baby sat. If y'all agree to that kind of treatment then to each his own. And I wouldn't say he drove all those years and had a clean safety record by just sheer luck.

So maybe like in Wyoming with a storm approaching in January they tell you to buy 36 gals or whatever and your sitting there taking your 10 hour break with 1/2 tank of fuel ? Or am I over thinking it

I hate to say. If the feller was racking up violations with the swift cam.. Then he is not a safe driver... They used to get me on the rolling thru the stop sign violations... And thats it.. Its not hard to keep no points on that camera system if u are actually a good driver.

I'm guessing a lot of it can be customer-driven from past bad experiences or results hauling their freight and the company simply forces all drivers to comply rather than the "bad apples".

I’d point out on the lane departure violations ….., not to mention rolling stop signs and my favorite right turn on red

    Yes, you are overthinking it.

I am a company driver, it is their truck and they are paying for the fuel.
Their fuel program figures out the best (probably the cheapest) places to fuel along my route.
It is never less than 60 gallons. And I might have a 60 gallon stop early in my run with a fill up later in a state that is cheaper.

And while it may be an assigned fuel stop, I do have some latitude.
Sometimes I will skip a fuel stop to save some time, and call for fuel when it is more to my liking. Sometimes they don't like me doing that, but there have been no real repercussions over it. I call in, the fuel route is re optimized with a new stop of their choosing. Simple.
It is usually the after-hours people that give me a hard time about it, not my own DM.

And in your scenario of being in WY with a winter storm coming in and I have 1/2 tank of fuel and might be sitting for a couple days, I could probably arrange for a fill up.

Assigned fuel stops are really no big deal.

That lane departure warning goes off all the time, mostly when I am in the center of my lane and there is a seam of a skid mark or a trail of tar from a road repair somewhere in there.

I have never gotten safety points for a lane departure warning in my truck.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
