I was a trainer of students pulling dry van trailers for two years. I made what I considered to be a substantial income as a trainer.

I am thinking about getting into liquid hazmat tankers. I know that pay varies as much or more by region than by what type of trucking you are in. Nonetheless, the natural wage is higher for certain types of trucking than others. For instance, team drivers usually make more money than solo drivers.

In a given region, is the natural wage higher for solo liquid hazmat tanker drivers or for trainers of students pulling dry van trailers?

I don't know what trainers on dry vans make but one fact stands out. People move from dry vans to tankers and they seldom move back.
Even if the amount of money was the same driving tankers is a lot less hassle than having to put up with greenhorns learning to drive dry vans.

Your question is like asking which smal business makes the most money? You can ask 20 owners of laundromats, 20 owners of convenience stores, 20 owners of landscaping companies, etc and compare them. Almost no driver is going to know enough other drivers in various regions doing different types of trucking to give you an answer. You need to ask liquid HM divers about their job and dry van trainers about their job and compare the answers.
