I've been doing a load every Friday now, load in the morning and deliver it in the afternoon 156 miles up the road. Last Friday I found out it pays 1500 because the guy on the dock is lonely and wants to talk Lol. That's 500 off the top. But I guess it's not really run of the mill freight either so you can't judge it on that for charging a premium. And same day service, FedEx had the account before this and lost it from damaging too much stuff. Goes to a government contractor.

That's the deal on the whole thing, now that you know that the broker is making $500, are you going to quit hauling it for $1,000? I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're satisfied with what you are being paid, it really doesn't matter what a broker is making. If you got offered a $5 per mile cross country run to get you home, would you turn it down if you found out the brokers was making $10 per mile?

At the end of the day, the broker is never going to offer more than he thinks he can get it moved for, it doesn't matter what he has in it. I have no love lost for brokers, but it's not their fault they are offering cheap rates, you can blame your fellow truckers for that.

Well, you know...knowing is better than not knowing. It is fundamentally easier to ask for more knowing how deep their packets are.

On the load board if it showed he was getting $1500 all the broker would have to do is let the truckers bid it down until the last possible minute and he’d get the load moved for $900.

Forget loadboards or transparency as a mandate for a moment.
If you got Intel that you're the only truck in the area and the broker makes $X on the load, while in your darest expectation, without the Intel, the greatest would be $Y where Y<X then you'd quote the broker X+Z where Z >=0 depending on your mercy.

That sounds greedy and I could swear you’ve made mention before about how greed is bad.

With how the rates are I'm happy moving it for a 1000. I always tell people when they complain about brokers that you chose to use the broker. Nobody forced you to. As long as you're satisfied with the rate, that's what matters.

We run 2 trucks local home every day. We usually have a truck down that way in the morning so we just grab it on the way home and kick it off. If not we can go down empty and it's still a good move for 310 miles total. Most other crap on the board they want to pay like $700 on loaded 300mi

In the past month we've only booked maybe 5 loads off the board. The rest of what we do is dedicated stuff that never hits the board because of our exceptional service
