Can a company require driver to enter social security number for 3rd party online safety training with TenStreet? Seems like driver lic. No. or driver code and birthday should be enough.looks like overreach for any other use, one s.s. no. Entered.
Are drivers protected under privacy law?

You can always find another company.
Quality Carriers used to make you do monthly training and use your phone or internet and didn’t pay the Leased on drivers but don’t do your tests and they wouldn’t dispatch you)
Disclosure of Social Security Numbers
No one cares anymore, I’ve refused to give mine a few times, especially in publicans asked, I was asked once to deposit a check into my bank account.
Not withdraw, deposit, i showed ID, 2 forms and the woman said I had to give her that, so she could match it from the computer.
I refused. Got the manager over.
Lot of hassle.homeskillet and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
When CDL's first came out AZ wanted my SS# on the license. I refused, they laughed and my license# was 19#'s long. Took a while to memorize it.
Deadhead-er Thanks this. -
I really don't remember the year. I started to get bothered by my SSAN being put on checks in stores because it was also my Ga DL #. Going all the way back to 1973 when I first got my learners it had my SSAN on it. I finally asked the guy during a CDL renewal if I could change this. He said yes and generated another DL #. My Virginia DL before I lost it also had a random number, and my Virginia-issued REAL ID Identification card also uses that same number today. That SSAN was never designed to be an identification number, but somehow over the decades, it has become so.

I had this happen and I called the third party company and told them I wasnt comfortable with it and they said don't worry so I didn't have to give it.Last edited: May 1, 2023

1972 your Navy service number on your dog tags, was your S/S #.

The company can require whatever they choose. You can choose to follow their rules, or find employment elsewhere. Before you go making those decisions though, it's a given that in today's world between insurance companies losing data, doctors offices losing data, the government losing data, etc... your data is already out there for those who want it.
Powder Joints, tscottme and homeskillet Thank this. -
I still remember my service number.
Having a service number was a badge of honor at that time.Numb Thanks this. -
A company can require anything that is not illegal for the driver to perform. Just as you can choose where to work based on the colors of their truck, the phone number of the HQ or the quality of the rap videos posted onntheir YouTube channel.SoulScream84 Thanks this.

Seminar conducted by the DOT. as far as they were concerned any record of training in a companies files without the SSN does not exist.
