Exactly. No matter how it’s spun the RV driver hit the truck. He’s in the wrong.

Perhaps, but as someone pointed out, it’s also possible the whole situation could have been avoided had the trucker eased off and let the rv go about it’s business instead of antagonizing.
Both are valid point of discussion.
We as professional drivers all know this.
We also know all too well how brain dead many non professional drivers are. We see it daily.
Phones, aggressive behavior, ignorance, and so on…. These are no secrets.
I don’t have a solution by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know I can control myself and my actions.

One thing for sure, if it had been me driving that truck, I would have made sure the investigating officer saw that video. But CdlLife would have never got to see it. I would have did my best to keep it off of the internet at least until after the lawyers had finished doing their deal.

    One second ?

I’ve been stuck behind trucks that take 7 minutes to crawl past each other at 61.3 mph

There’s folks out here who will speed up and slow down deliberately when attempting to pass them…I’ve gotten to the point I’ll stay in that left lane for as long as necessary to get around the idiots who pull this crap too.

I'm talking about when one dryvan is going 0.0003 mph faster than the other, and he'll grab the hammer lane with a half-mile gap, because he's perfectly happy to hold up a line of fifty people while he takes ten minutes to pass, rather than let them all by and then take his opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, this was absolutely the RV driver's fault. Just saying that truck driver is a douche bag as well. It's not "every man for himself" out there. We have to help each other. Even though that RV driver was pushing a bad position, the trucker had two choices. Back off and let him in, or PIT the guy, cause a rollover, cause damage to his own rig, and I'm sure that RV driver had a mom and dad/brothers and sisters/wife and kids. He's a human just like the rest of us. When I do something stupid, it's nice for a fellow human to help pick up my slack, just like I'd do for him.

So that truck driver was either:
    A) Screwing around on his phone so hard that he didn't even see the RV until he felt it make contact.
    B) Such a prick that he'd rather risk everything that happened in the video just to hold his own lane and prove a point.

    Agreed

the motorhome driver was 100% at fault

but guess who is also sitting there for hours talking to the cops and his company safety department and filling out forms for a week ?
Assuming there’s no serious damage to the truck , you’re still losing a days pay at the scene and another day or tour of pay for court appearances and safety meetings etc

    And possibly getting sued ?
And if his dash cam wasn’t working the motorhome driver would be telling the cops that the big truck caused it .

it was totally the Rv drivers fault but would have been way better off to just tap the brakes and avoid the accident and keep rolling and earning money .

That's that all too good "instant karma" right there. I always laugh honestly when I see a four wheeler trying to gun it to get up in front of a truck in the hammer lane. Usually, granted not always though, when there is a semi in the left lane there is a reason for it such as passing someone else in the right lane. Glad nobody was seriously hurt, but I would have thumbed my nose to this fool when he was climbing out of his likely now totaled motor home.

We’re assuming that’s the speed (0.0003 mph faster than traffic) the dry van was going but the dashcam doesn’t show the speed. The only thing we see is the RV had it to the boards giving er hell. Now, I will say, if there’s a sign that says “No Trucks in Left Lane”…. He’s toast but the article didn’t mention it.
