I will say this much I have more fun on nights at GFS then I did on the road at ABF.
GFS every load is like time critical where at ABF it was like go to Chicago it’s 6 hours down the road and you have 11 hour to do a 6 hour job.
GFS our nights are action packed so to speak because we do double runs and it’s all got to be back by 5am and it’s not like working for a trucking company it’s totally different animal in that respect. It’s better fit for me.
I know FedEx has hub times and stuff. We’re not that precise but stuff has to get out and be back on time.Last edited: May 16, 2023

But no. I can understand ABF being too rough for someone. I certainly couldn't do that long-term. Five years was an eternity.
That said, now I have to occasionally bust your balls over it, despite the hypocrisy. I don't make guy code, I just follow it.Mike2633, Gearjammin' Penguin and Lumper Humper Thank this. -
I worked my butt off to get into my dream job. I had a goal and I fought for it and made all the required sacrifices to get it. It ended up being the most miserable experience I've ever had. My wife wanted me to quit. My personality was turning bad. Just a all a round mess. While I still believe that you need to go for it and try. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. It's devastating to the ego but that's life I guess.
Glad to see that your old job welcomed you back with open arms. You're very fortunate.LtlAnonymous, Mike2633, Banker and 5 others Thank this. -
This business will do that to a man, as I’ve even personally noticed.
It isn’t the equipment, or the hours, or the work, or the pay. It’s the politics.LtlAnonymous, snowbird_89, road_runner and 1 other person Thank this. -
That’s the reason I won’t do Linehaul. My wife said I was more rude when I was a night shift person.
still a little cranky now…
Im working 9-9 everyday, which isn’t bad but man it’s annoying when you load yourself, deliver, and unload yourself.Mike2633 and road_runner Thank this.
