Not sure why they'd spec a truck that hauls OD loads on a regular basis with lane departure crap. I had one truck at Shaffer with that useless technology and I gave it back to them within 20k miles (that and it had 23 engine faults on the Peoplenet diagnostic screen). Told them that if they assigned another one with that bull spit, I would tint that part of the windshield with flat black spray paint enough to confuse the system (and lose my cruise). It was all part of the system that auto dimmed the high beams (which didn't work right), and would automatically turn on the wipers when it sensed rain (which didn't work right either). All that junk can be disabled and thrown in the garbage.

Unplug the speakers on the pillar. Easy fix!!!Itsbrokeagain, kylefitzy and hope not dumb twucker Thank this.

Don’t think that works on new trucks. Atleast that’s what I was told with the freightliners. Engineers got smart.

No they've had this account for over 20 years. Quit spouting off excuses because it sounds to me like your a dispatcher and sending in excuses. Yes I have filled in the office from time to time and I know for a fact they get that number when they send out the load. It's pure incompetence.Gearjammin' Penguin, Old_n_gray and Oxbow Thank this.

I haven’t been inside the new 680’sOxbow Thanks this.

The Freightliners have it built into the sound system of the truck, unplug a speaker and it throws a code to the ECM. Never saw lane departure on a 680, so I can't comment on how that system works. But, if companies want to satisfy insurance companies by installing collision mitigation systems, that's one thing, but if their drivers are so wreckless that they need equip their trucks with a nanny system to bug them to keep them from venturing out of their lane, perhaps they should address their hiring standards rather than babysitting the drivers that aren't up to their safety standards.Lonesome, dwells40, Gearjammin' Penguin and 4 others Thank this.

I passed one of Wylie’s red 680’s last week in CA and the spot mirror on the side of the hood was broke off already…….

I’ve seen it on KW 680’s and 579 PetesOxbow Thanks this.

I have it in my truck. It can be annoying. If I find it going off often, maybe it’s a sign I’m more tired than I think and should rest. Now the forward collision system is a whole different pita. I mean going off for no reason and slamming the brakes c’mon. What about the people behind me. Sometimes mine does that. Have to drive with the foot over the go pedal. Almost defeats the cruise. But is what it is. Used to it now. Pretty sure our safety people review the cams before calling us and when it goes off for no reason just deletes it and doesn’t bother us.

The problem with doing oversize with that system tho is you constantly are straddling the white lanes and multiple lanes. Especially doing some of the big loads like kylefitzy is doing.. Trying to stay focused on what ur doing while having that lane departure sound going off every couple seconds would drive a man insane I can only imagine..IH Truck Guy, motocross25, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this.
