A semi-truck driver who slammed into a passenger van in western Oregon and killed seven people on Thursday in one of the state’s deadliest crashes in recent years has been arrested on suspicion of being drunk behind the wheel, police said.
Investigators on Friday arrested Lincoln Clayton Smith, 52, of North Highlands, California, on counts of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, manslaughter and assault.

CR truck and the van were on shoulder prior to the crash.

- Oregon police said the driver of a semitruck that crashed into a van on Interstate 5, was arrested Friday on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter charges.
- 11 people were in the van when it was struck, six people died at the scene, one other died while being airlifted to a hospital and four others were injured.
- Lincoln Clayton Smith was arrested for reckless driving, manslaughter, assault, and suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The company the driver worked for might as well close shop. No way they did a background check or drug test on that driver.
