Pam is good on automotive dedicated
The drivers i talk to seem to be content
But do lease a truck for any carrier, just drop heavy stuff on your feet. You ll be happier -
Automotive contracts are re-bid, every 30 days. And, if the manufacturer doesn’t need the components you haul, you sit. It’s a very unstable position drivers can never count on.Cc4525, bryan21384 and Oxbow Thank this.

Just for giggles, I'm at $1.83 cpm just to run my old truck and lowboy, and that does not include wages or our labor on repairs and maintenance. Granted, we only run about 30,000 miles per year, and that includes OS/OW permits, insurance, bit I really can't see $1.05 per mile as anything other than buying an average job with risk.
blairandgretchen, Cc4525, ducnut and 2 others Thank this. -
No doubt. When I have a contract, I do better than anything else I’ve done, per mile. However, when there’s no contract, I struggle. Hit and miss freight just doesn’t cut it. End of year, I won’t touch my annual earnings pulling a reefer.

Here's what they have listed for cost. I think this is just an example. Sorry my email came out like this so its a bit difficult to read.

No idea about your experience or interests, but you can make 60cpm or more as a company driver pretty easily. Even substantially more than that if you move to something specialized or LTL. And that’s on a W2 without the headache of a truck, without having to choose between going home or making a truck payment, without any contracts, without having to to choose between dinner and repairing a flat tire, etc.
Not all L/P’s are completely terrible (they’re all pretty bad), but 1.05/mi is pitiful.
That optimistic settlement you posted is less than you can make on a W2 with actual benefits and a quarter of the stress. They also were very optimistic with that maintenance escrow. At that rate, you might afford a single retread after a couple weeksducnut, Cc4525, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.
