Whatever type you use , headlite, hand held , stand-alone ( 9 volt) , led , bulb , whatever- get more than one and enuf ways to keep it going , ( batteries and / or rechargeables) . There is nothing more sad and dangerous than a driver using a phone lite to to lite up something .

I'm a bit of a flashlight snob perhaps. I've been using O-light flash lights for a while. Have several. They are rechargeable and extremely bright. I use mine several times a Nighy and it's in my pocket day or night

It's bright, rechargeable, and fits in my pocket without being obtrusive. I've had it since summer 2019.

I have a headlamp for when it's needed, but it's nice to have something that fits in your pocket so you always have it.

    Nitecore P-10

fits in your pocket and it’s super bright

a headlamp is also handy .
I love the new ones where the light is a flexible LED strip so the light shines in a good flood area instead of just right in front .

also the Guardian Angel portable strobe lights are handy if you break down .
Way more visible than the triangles

Charged it once months ago when I first got it and it has never needed recharging since. I mainly use when checking 5th wheel locking pin.

I also have a couple of led strip headlights but don't use them much.

I got a rechargeable headlamp and mag light. I use the headlamp almost daily. Have never turned the mag light on or got to hit anyone with it. Just stick with the headlamp and save some money.

I stopped at Walmart on the way to the yard yesterday and bought one of those flashlights. Charged it up and used it for my pretrip today. I'm impressed.
