    I have been around since '91, did my LTL time in both P&D and Line Haul, it is always a grind. Food service and fuel delivery too, can make ok money, but you are doing better than most in that industry. Drove for Wally for 8 years and had enough of that...currently doing roll off as a combination local, regional and "otr". Don't work too hard, great salary. Probably the best job I have had.

    Seems like 400 a day, 2k week, 100k a year are still the pinnacle of this industry in W2 form. I would stay where you are at for as long as it lasts, not going to do any better. Luckily for me, I have about 18 months left of this being a full time deal, then can sell the house, be debt free and do whatever.

    They're in Knoxville right between the best western and laquinta inn by the KFC. I was just there on a 10. I work for Estes lol

    Yeah, I look forward to a little cabin in the woods and part time hauling logs or delivering propane to fellow rurals. Am I reaching for the stars? Not really. Would have had it long ago but for all the waste and dithering so many of us get caught up in.
    ...I do have a fantastic collection of high end guitars and other musical gear ... I have little time to play with. "Retirement" to me just means working certain beloved hobbies. I was a landscaper for a lot of years and would like to finally apply that skill to my own property.


    Car Hauling, Teams, Heavy/Oversize, etc are well above $100k, but I suppose you meant "pinnacle" for main stream stuff like I do. Why does your roll-off job pay such a premium; is it the customer base?

    There are a lot of heavy haul and car haulers that aren't making the big bucks people think they do. The ones that do are very fortunate. Seen plenty that hover around 80-90k. Lots of those are living to work. I got lucky to some degree with right timing on this job, they were offering a salary plus per diem. Work more than 5 days and you get those days salary, etc. Even if you barely do anything. It is mostly hazardous stuff...once in awhile may be a tank. I love the roll off stuff, so easy. Zero pressure in this job.

    I would sell the house for the money, no sense in keeping it in a hot market and I don't see myself being in this area in 2 years or so. Sell the house, should make 80-100k on that just in time to be debt free, with savings to boot. Hoping to angle this into an early retirement somewhere else where the money goes much further.

    Yeah, runs on diesel, worked good but hard to control temp - it would get too hot. I can run the engine, but try to be cooperative with the fuel economy (not when I'm driving though!)

    I am in Illinios and want out. Are you too near a big city or what? I want to move to Tennessee - np state income tax - and a pretty functional (and beautiful) state. But that kind of depends on my commitment to Fraley (their HQ and best customer are were I'd move). In spite of all the good, I have doubts - it takes a lot of intervention on my part to keep things good and IMIO, they are making some bad moves. Maybe I am holding out for the election too.

    Webasto? Yea those need regular maintenance that virtually no company is willing to do. Good thing is, they are super simple to work on and with $40 dollars in parts they’ll run like day 1 again. Lots of YouTube videos on maintaining them and most companies will reimburse for the parts.

    I did a short stint with F&S on their Nucor Acct in Ky, was promised day cab 5 days a week $325 day, was there for 10 weeks and NEVER worked a full week, usually 2-3 days where the norm, can’t make ends meet on that crap, so I am an instructor at local cdl school
    Don’t get me wrong DECENT enough company if you are OTR, just not the end dump
