Im trying to decide between two jobs. They are both m-f, home daily. One is to dedicated customers drop and hook, .61cpm + accessorial pay. Schedule is flexible, can start sun or Mon and run extra days. The start time varies by customer, no guarantee on miles. The other is hourly ltl starting at $29, 10am start with the option on Sat linehaul runs at .70ish cpm. Which sounds like the better option.
Recommendations local cpm vs ltl hrly

The first probably but this phrase gives me pause: "The start time varies by customer."
How varied are we talking? -
It could be early morning to late afternoon. I accepted the hourly job at Estes doing local p&d.

I prefer hourly; even when I do Linehaul I get pissed because they’ll make you do stuff for “free”. “Hey drop the parts off to the sister terminal”, “hey swap tractors for preventive maintenance”, etc…
when you’re hourly management starts to respect your time a little more because it effects their metrics/bottom line. When you’re “salary” in my experience no one respect your time.Texas_hwy_287, SidewaysBentHalo, rabbiporkchop and 1 other person Thank this. -
The LTL gig, without a doubt.
I bounce between CPM and hourly, most weeks. I feel zero pressure on hourly, because I know I get paid for everything. It’s a lot better feeling.Rideandrepair, Harryjr71 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
hourly usually is the better option( you can find traffic anywhere)ducnut Thanks this.

Hourly LTL sounds hard to beat with a 10:00 a.m. start time
ducnut Thanks this.
