Are hood bug deflectors worth the cost? Does it actually help?

What are you go-to wipers? I've mainly just read that most don't have a preference or use the scrubber blades.

Do you use anything in your washer fluid, wax your windshield, or put any treatment on the windshield?

Hit the windshield with simple green on the stream setting so it sprays with some distance, then use squeegee as normal. Bugs come right off.

I always stick to factory OEM wipers on our cars. Same with trucks. They're cheap and they last longer, work better than overpriced Bosch, RainX or other aftermarket ones. Don't put Rainx on your windshield. After about 3 or 4 weeks when it degrades the rain water will just smear from your wipers and you won't be able to see anything in a bad downpour. It works great if you clean and apply it often as a routine. But when you let it go it's bad.

I saved time and money by just razor scraping the windshield, then a light spray of window cleaner.. its a lot faster and if you use glass towels, you can simply rewash and use them over and over again

Relentless Drive Microfiber Bug Sponge (6 Pack) – Large Car Sponge for Car Washing, Ultra Soft Mesh Sponges, Scratch-Free for Car, Truck, SUV, RV, Boat, and Motorcycle https://a.co/d/6z1Su9L

I carry two of these in my cleaning supplies bag. When I stop for fuel, I hit the windshield with the squeegee and windshield cleaner from the bucket. Then I hop up on a steer tire and scrub the bugs off with these pads.

At the end of my day I do it all over again and hit my windshield with glass cleaner and a microfiber towel.

Not much else you can do.

Spray windshield with glass cleaner. I use sprayway, a pad of 0000 steel wool and rub lightly then dry with newspaper. I use cheap wipers , clean them once a week or so with WD 40 makes them like new. The bug guards on the hood seems to help keep snow off better than bugs.

Do not use the -20 or -32 wiper fluid except in winter. The antifreeze in that fluid is a lubricant and will reduce the friction between the wiper blade and the windshield. That's OK for washing away dirty road spray, but it reduces the ability to scrape away bugs. Use the winter fluid in winter and the summer fluid in summer.

Not on a Cascadia in my experience. I've had one truck with a bug deflector and one without. I do suspect the bug deflector channels rocks into the windshield. I can't prove that, but I know I had more rock strikes with the last truck. It was a mid roof and the truck I have now is a high roof, so it's not an exact comparison.
