They're not employees of the union, they're employees of the company.

You enter a withdrawal card during layoff, and when you get brought back you get your union benefits and company seniority back.

This has nothing to do with the union.

    Rideandrepair and Coffey Thank this.

Unions layoff in seniority order, Non-union pick who they don't like to be laid-off and likely will never be called back when hiring returns.

    Guess I’m a corporate guy now…

I’d look at metrics/stops per hour before looking at “who I liked”.

I’d be scared to work for a seniority type place like that you’re incentivizing guys to beat up other drivers lmao

Here in the West Coast they started laying us off the day the contract took effect. So far in Oakland, they laid off 4 of us and 2 more next week with more employees in line. Last I heard, in Los Angeles, they laid off 15 employees the day the contract took effect. Arizona is also laying off.

Have you worked for ABF for less than 5 years? Did any of the laid off drivers receive hiring bonuses when they were hired?

In case you have not noticed the industry as a whole is slow. All of the trucking companies are trying to down size .
I do believe you will see an uptick this week if #### happens at Yellow.

not in my area; I’m 25 bills/stops everyday. Actually had 65 bills come in for my truck alone last Monday.
