    Agreed
I was just trying to simplify the idea that employee pensions are not effected by the closure

And assume 1.5 billion in debt and a whole crapload of junk equipment?
I really don't see that happening.

I didn't read nearly the whole thread but, I worked at Yellow in early 2000's prior to the roadway merger and the freight/money was insane...You literally had to know someone to get hired ( no joke ) Orientation day was probably the most exciting 1st day of work ive ever seen. Everyone was in "shock" they got the call!!!

So sad to see them go. Truly feel for all those affected.

Hands down, the best job I've ever had. If I wouldn't have been laid off from that merger I probably would have retired working for them.

Wish everyone affected my sincerest. Life goes on...

As bit of Cap’n Obvious here, the business plan that Yellow used didn’t work. Without getting into the ‘it’s their fault over there’, or ‘it’s their fault over here’ dance, needless to say if Yellow is to resurrect, it will have to utilize a revamped mentality. Being the cheapest carrier with one of the highest debt to asset ratios is not the route to long term success.
The mantra of ‘the customers will return’ that we keep hearing about, you have to ask will they? If the only reason they had those particular customers is because Yellow was ‘cheap’, are those the type of customers you want to rebuild your business around?

I honestly considered XPO and Old Dominion at one time since they both have terminals, albeit small ones, here. But I know LTL is a completely different ball game than standard truckload so I just stuck with what I knew.

If your in the 401 you can move it around.
If you receive a check from the pension trust it is an annuity.
