I posted awhile back about a flatbed place I picked up at.. Mine in Loving, WY.

Every flatbedder I met was absolutely dirty head to to and looking completely pissed off angry.

My load I picked up was late in the day and I got loaded and gone before 3 of the flatbeds got tarps on.

The only flatbed driver’s I ever seen smiling are the ones with a turban on their head :)

Ten cents? I can find a $1500 reefer load going less than 500 miles without hardly trying. That's a $1,000 load or worse for a van just about every day. Unless you want to waste half your day waiting for somebody desperate. I can pre-book a reefer for a week on decent rates. Never did that with a van. Of course if you want to play the market with a reefer and dick around trying to get top dollar, last minute you can do that too. Reefer is way more consistent and a #### sight better than van rates from what I saw. That's just me tho.

That might be the market you're in. Everything east of the Mississippi is paying garbage and has been for months. $1.30 a mile for reefer is kind of the going rate right now in most of the East Coast. I've seen loads posted for reefer for 29 cents a mile. It used to be if that I was in Chicago I can easily get 250 a mile on reefer... Now you're lucky to see a dollar 70 at the same area.

Oh yeah I know I quit about a month ago. I'm done with it and not ever going back. Rates have been garbage everywhere for about 18 months now. From 2016 to 2018 I had a reefer and a van, the van sat parked with spider webs on it for most of that time.

$1,955 pre booked 645 miles..one day on the truck. That was my first load of the week. 40 minutes to get loaded and 30 to get unloaded and hauling tail to the next one..

I did spot reefer for 2 years and was the only time I wasn’t making enough to stay afloat. Before that I did reefer for 3 years..contract freight. Felt like I spent the entire 3 years sitting at Sysco, US Foods and all the other sorry food dc’s.

But it’s like anything in life.. when you’re doing something you enjoy the rest comes easy.

Just got $2.07 out of Lakeland, FL to Tacoma, WA. Definitely not bragging because I’d have liked a heck of a lot more.

Wonder what a similar reefer load would have paid out of Florida..

It’s been like that since I started driving (2014).
Back then some owner/operators were talking about running their trucks for $1.60 a mile! SMH
