Every major outfit is turning into a clown show. Just have to ignore it.

Well the "Clown Show" at Old Dominion is making money like they're printing it out back.
There are several well run LTL companies out there.

The main problem I have with OD is that in down times, seniority means nothing. They lay off anyone they don't like.

What's the point of being somewhere 20 years if the new TM has an axe to grind?

Wow. You were there for a pretty long time, weren’t you? Best of luck on your new endeavor.

I need a bottom line advice from someone. Preferably that has experienced in the 1099 industry.

I have a job lined up doing some 1099 work for a guy that works down the street.. the best perk is probably my greatest weakness. I get to pick my own schedule from a loadboard. Only problem is I've always been dispatched by someone else that controls what I am doing when running linehaul. My unfamiliarity of all of this could cost me reduced overall miles and excessive fuel consumption that my boss would have to absorb. Clearly out of my wheelhouse.

Second option is production work. Company position with decent benefits. Downside is it would not start for another 4 weeks and it would make my CDL useless if I stay there forever. Pay is enough to keep the light on but I have no idea if this is something I could get used to.

Thoughts? And please give a educated response.
