This could have ended very badly for the driver:

“He refused to identify himself to the officer. At that time, he was told that they would have to get him out of his vehicle some kind of way, either with a pepper ball or additional non-lethal weapons. He told the officers that he had a gun and was not afraid to use it. That’s when the situation escalated further,” Broussard said.

    Yep!

I do however understand some of his feelings. I have seen many accidents and sort of emergency situations that cops or fire fighters close down roadways when there is clearly more than enough space to let traffic move past. Sitting there looking at a minor incident with a squad car blocking 2 lanes beside it for no apparent reason is frustrating. Our local Fire department will close down an entire road if it rains and we get the equivalent of a mud puddle of water at the end of town.

Texas seems to be the worst ones I see doing this. There will be a wreck in the left lane and shoulder on a freeway with 4 or 5 lanes in each direction. The fire dept will pull up and block off all but the far right lane. No reason to do that and it will back up traffic for miles instead of just having a little slowdown.

Without a doubt he qualifies for a “Moron of the Week” Award!

What’s even more impressive is that the authorities exercised some restraint and didn’t turn him into Swiss cheese!!
