I stayed on the road for 3 to 4 weeks the first 3 years I worked here. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I started staying out for longer periods of time, though. Restaurants were closed, stores were closed, family members were leery of me being around them due to the amount of traveling I do at work and the possibility of me being a non-symptomatic carrier. So, I started staying out for a few months when that happened. It was by choice. It wasn’t Indian River asking or forcing me to. Ever since then, I’ve kept the similar routine. I’ve been on the road right now since June 6th, but I’m going to be home on Sunday and will be off for 8 days. Again, that’s totally my choice, and I could go home more often if I wanted to. I don’t have any kids, and I’m divorced, so I just go home when I’m ready to.

Is it a decent deductible at least?

Same here and it's decent .. I've only really used the dental though and thought about paying for cheaper insurance but hard to find a somewhat comparable plan for less

With the HSA plan do y'all have to cover prescriptions out of pocket until you meet the deductible, or do they have separate coverage from office visits and the like?

Prescriptions are covered with a co-pay. Regular doctor's visits also have like a $40 co-pay. Stuff like blood tests are covered too. I think the deductible is for major stuff like hospital visits which can obviously add up real quick.

What I like about the HSA is that I can put aside pre-tax money to cover the various co-pays. I also used HSA to pay for prescription glasses which was hundreds of dollars.

It's still my money being used, but it's not my taxed net take home money.
