First, this doesn't appeal to me AT ALL. I am reading the posts & it seems no one else is pro JetSet.
So what does something like this pay? This seems like a LOT of trouble. So, its gotta pay well to get people into this. Well, at least it should pay well.
I also understand not everyone is as "Grumpy" as me so, I'm sure some people would enjoy this kinda work, but I doubt its very many people. It'd take a special kind of personality.

I love to fly as long as I do it first class.. I know how to get around most airports in this country and packing light just makes it so much easier. My last six flights I had nothing but a briefcase and a pack of smokes

Getting fondled by some big sweaty TSA agent touching you in your bad place is always fun, lol.
Would be a perfect job for me but I highly doubt that they would meet my salary demands and first class seats.
My only worry is having them lose my checked baggage..or receiving it days later.ducnut Thanks this. -
The one and only "pro" is that it gives opportunties to people who live in an "unhireable area".
A lot of the Jetset folks come from places like Miami, where locally based cdl jobs require experience and generally don't pay all that well. Most of the guys who sign up for this do their year and move on.
Pay and hometime are the same as any other driver, and most of them are no longer slip seating. It wouldn't be for me, I'd rather move into someplace that had better options, but for some folks it works well.
We had an alsaska based guy who did it for 5 years. Stacked enough cash to aquire some land and build a cabin, then "retired". We have an Irish guy who lives out of the truck and gets flown to almost wherever he wants once a month. It works for them.Grumppy, Lonesome, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
You won't have the same truck every time because you may be sent anywhere in the USA that need a driver. You will drive the truck that's available in that area.

Sounds like it’s a Frenched up way of calling it an abandoned truck and load recovery specialist. You fly in and pickup were an ex employee left the truck sitting in limbo then drive it to wherever dispatch says and park it for the new meat in the seat.

They did try that, but quickly aborted. There are different methods of recovering those trucks.
If they go into a different truck it will have gone through reassignment- quick once over by the shop and a reasonablely thorough interior cleaning. Most of them will return to the same truck nowadays.
I still think the whole idea is dumb, and we'd be better off working on driver retention, but Schneider Math is going to Schneider Math. -
