Most of your negative reviews are from whiney cry babies and misfits who sign up for an accelerated driving school with a carrier, get into it, then later find out it's much more than they bargained for, find out that trucking isn't easy after all (for beginners), find out the pay isn't totally kick-butt for first-year drivers (since pay is based mainly on experience -- sha-zam!), find out they can't handle being away from family/friends/lovers for more than a few days, etc, etc,....then dump on the carrier with negative reviews/feedback (after all--it JUST CAN'T be the driver's fault, right? )....

There are simply TOO MANY THREADS posted here of new drivers who've signed up with a carrier like you're suggesting/considering.....and then somewhere between a few to several months, decide "the water is just too deep", and it's not for them....and are then looking for "greener grass" (and/or "home daily") somewhere else (with MUCH BETTER pay and perks, of course ).

Thus -- the REAL QUESTION here is -- can you actually stick it out for a full 12 months, before you just absolutely have to "bounce"? What/where will you "bounce" to, next?

As you've suggested earlier -- if getting a hazmat endorsement is that much of challenge/pain for you -- then you're certainly in for a real treat when you sign-up/onboard for the in-house CDL driving school boot camp with A-N-Y of the previously suggested carriers....

Also: any of the above/aforementioned carriers are probably fine suggestions -- but....as before....if they aren't hiring beginners...or aren't hiring out of your area to begin with....in the current freight environment, you're very likely pretty much stitching air talking to them.

Cdl school is a minor formality. Find the driving job that fits you and decide about school after that. You don't fo us on the wedding and then marry some random chick you meet on the drive to the ceremony. You look for the wife and then worry about what color napkins for the reception later.

CDL school just teaches you to pass the state test. Your first job is where you learn the other 95% of the job.

You're in Florida. You gotta take whatever you can get. Reviews mean nothing. All companies have ambassadors and complainers. Just because one driver left a bad review doesn't mean your story will be the exact same. All of the major companies are pretty much the same so I don't really know how much research there is to do. Trucking is all about what you put into it. If you sit around looking for companies that have te best reviews, you'll be procrastinating like hell. Don't rely on the company to make your trucking experience good....you write your own story. If someone gives you a yes, take it and don't look back.

Man... Florida's that bad huh, thanks for the advice, I came from a different industry and reviews are how we judge companies and stuff so that's what I'm used to.

Ask current drivers how they like their company and then ask for details about pay, home time, equipment, customers, schedules, whatever you want to know. Read the reviews, you are an adult you can tell the complainers from the real issues. The losers will always blame their failures on "he/she didn't like me." I also research endlessly. You wouldn't buy a dishwasher without reading the reviews why would you pick a place to work for at least a year without reading the reviews?

Look at each company's SAFER score SAFER Web - Company Snapshot
Each company has a DOT or MC number in case you find multiple companies with the same name. The good companies have better scores and smaller OOS (out of service), driver, hazmat %.

If you want random results, make random decisions. If you want better results do more research.

Yeah it can be. Once you gain some experience, it'll become easier to find jobs. There are some good companies based there, like Armellini, Sunstate Carriers, Abco, or even Kottke who's based in Minnesota but has a presence there. It's all about getting in that door so you can get to the gravy.

If u are in orlando area ,Mid Florida tech in has some solid training man .i dunno how much the tuition now but back in 2014 i think i paid about $2300~ .if not mistaken .it was the best 2 months of training i got ..look it up.
Reason i suggested this is it gives u more freedom on choosing a company afterwards and not be tied up in a year contract .good luck

I don’t know what part of Florida you’re in, but May Trucking has a terminal in Pensacola. I drive for them right out truck driving school. They weren’t too bad. I’d drive for them again if I needed to.
