That's weird. It's kinda annoying, but maybe I could get used to it. I wonder if the shop could install something to muffle the sound.

I picked up my first load today. They had me move a couple trailers from Atlanta to Cordele Thursday and Friday to keep me busy until my pickup in Headland, AL. Really easy pickup. The hardest part was pulling onto the scale, it was really tight. But hey, I didn't hit anything so that's a win. Got there an hour early for my appointment and they still got me loaded an hour after my appointment time. Might have been even sooner than that but they had to rewash my trailer since it had unpasteurized milk in it previously. Apparently they can't load yeast in a tank that previously had unpasteurized in it unless it has been washed twice. Doesn't make much sense to me but they did it all at the loading rack and I didn't have to go somewhere else so it didn't really matter to me.

I also found out that whoever had this truck before me decided to leave the 5th wheel all the way to the rear. 36k on my drives, but only 10k on the steers. I put it somewhere kinda in the middle now so it's about 12.2k and 34k and I figure I shouldn't have to touch it again.

After reading this thread I applied to IRT. They don't have a terminal in WA but had a job listing on their site. I ended up getting texts a day later asking about my experience and which company it was with. I replied politely. These were both things stated in my application and on my resume so it's like they didn't even read it. Ha. A few weeks went by and I received the email saying they didn't select me. All good. Maybe someday I'll drive tankers and in the meantime I'll continue my goal of being a great driver and never missing a learning opportunity.

They have been very picky despite advertising on ten street saying they will train tanker and need drivers.

Don't worry about axle weights pulling a smooth bore, gross is all that matters. You'll never know the true weight unless your are perfectly level and the liquid isn't moving at all. Iv pulled up a portable scale and they told me to just pull over it . They didn't bother weighting me because they knew they would never get a accurate weight all they did was look at my bol. Even at scale houses I hard brake so it makes their job harder. As long as you are at 80k your good.

Where ya headed to from Red Star?

Anytime I have loaded out of I generally get there as soon as they open and he will generally load me early. When you go in for the heavy way it definitely looks sketchy. Just wait till you get a Memphis load

That scale is definitely a tight swing!

Unless you have a rookie DOT trying to weigh you on a single axle scale...not that that would ever happen in Dumont Colorado or anything.

That's what I've always heard, but I'm a rule follower lol. I did sit on the scale for a minute to let it level out. Either way I don't feel like the 5th wheel should be all the way back like that. The truck will actually ride a little better with it moved a bit forward too.

The economy is in rough shape right now…so companies are tightening their belts so to speak…therefore can be very selective on hiring right now…
