Picked up this pre loaded trailer a few days ago. This was the condition of the tires.

The slice across was the same tire as the hole. Last pic shows nail in adjacent tire on level with the hole.

That's not a slice, that's a poorly done recap. It is the seam of the recap belt that wasn't properly vulcanized.

I had a couple of tires like that when I picked up a used trailer, it wasn't going to move with recaps on them.

The slice looks like a retread seam. The hole looks like some retread separation is happening, so probably a ticking time bomb. Nail is too close to shoulder to patch, but are you sure it’s leaking?

The straight cut is a recap seam as others mentioned.

I can see cords where the chunk is missing, not good at all. If they have air in them straight to the closest tire shop you should go.

it is common sense NOT TO RUN THOSE TIRES, they are trash and they are a violation to run.

Looks like a VERY cheap recap. Even Bandags never look that cheap.....Maybe not a 'violation', but certainly a garbage tire....

they are, especially the one with the cord exposed, it should be an OOS order to replace it.

Its technical name is “open tread splice”. Happens on plenty of virgin first line tires also. The tread is rolled on new tires the same way.

Don’t tell people that! Trying to keep my recap prices low. Hehe, can see the seam on virgin tires. Just look carefully. I run recaps, but I am particular. I know the folks who craft them and they do good work.
It’s a very low quality recap. Must have been JR’s first day at his job.
