Failure to take a UA is viewed the same as failing one.
https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulatio...er's refusal to submit,a drug or alcohol test.

They had you set up to be tested and you decided not to show. Why is a good question, but now it’s irrelevant. If you want to use that CDL that you have had for 2 years, you will have to complete a SAP program. You really should have posted as soon as possible, anyone could have warned you of the importance. Too late now.

Well, at least you don’t have to worry about throwing on chains now that winter is almost here.

This is the only industry I've worked in where so many people only ask the important questions AFTER they "jump off of the cliff". I recognize most drivers don't refuse drug tests and then ask if refusing one is a problem, but this is not an issue in more professional fields.

This comment really makes me mad! Not angry, MAD AS (redacted) at all the (redacted) truck stop attorneys and so-called experts all over the trucking profession who don't know their rear end from the Indiana State Ditch. There is a MYTH out there that you can refuse a pre-employment UA and be OK. It's a myth because it is only partially correct. I am not going to do all the linking to parts 40 and 391 to back this up. If you enter a secure testing environment and refuse to take that UA you are considered to have a positive test. If XYZ carriers tell you to go to the ACE clinic to test and you don't go you are OK. If you are on the property of XYZ or any (secured) location during orientation and refuse to test most likely they will finish the chain of custody form on you and send it to the MRO (as refused to test) who WILL add your name to the Clearinghouse.

Edit: I forgot this important point! The only thing you stand to lose doing a UA is something you dispose of several times a day anyway. If you are clean what is the harm in giving up some urine? If your urine is dirty or you suspect it might be you are most likely going to test positive later. I never really understood the mentality of refusing to test as I said all it will cost you is a urine sample. This is a subject where I once saw a Safety Person shrug and say "search me".
