DOT must hate smokers . I know guys who left their license at scales by accident and picked it up on return trip . Both parties laughed and all was good … years ago in my pov I accidentally left license at home and went through a random road check during the holidays. I was asked if I knew my license number I told him and he let me go but I had to present my copy within a week at the local police station.

I did that about 15 years ago. I left mine at the Pilot I-20 exit 33 in Louisiana. Drove to DFW somewhere, drove back home to Louisiana, then picked it up on my trip back out to DFW the next morning. Got lucky that time......

If you are not driving, how can it be a moving violation?
Or does that also apply when you are walking?

Look at (actually, comprehend) the quote... "not driving without a license".

What I wanna know is why he's watching fake news?

Don't licenses come with bar codes? We show the back. They scan. We put it back in our wallets. Gone are the days of actually giving it to them.

Keep a pic of your important docs on your phone or paper copy in your luggage. I started driving when Pilot required your DL number to buy fuel, so I can recite my DL number in my sleep. Same for passport, etc. It may not keep me from getting a ticket if I forget it, but maybe.

My DL number is required every time I fuel, wherever I fuel.

You still have mouthbreathing cashiers that try and grab it to scan.

Or just read it but have such poor eyesight that they need it 2 inches from their face since they cant grasp the idea of corrective lenses and want to slobber all over your license.

Give it to them, never. But i did have one of the second set of people get offended and refuse to sell me ciggarettes because i refused to let her hold and touch it.

That said, take a pic of your license front and back, put it in a pdf, email it to yourself, that way if its lost, you still have a way of showing it to an officer
