Happy all hallows eve everyone!
I just parked in a service plaza on 80/94 outside Gary Indiana.
Its been a strange day for the weather. Started out in Carlisle Pa bright and sunny. (after waiting 12 hours to get loaded, (freakin reefers and grocery warehouses))
Then in Ohio the temperature started dropping, the the sky turned gray, then the snow, sleet and anything frozen that could fall from the sky started.
Of course the only time we need ABS (or at least want it to work) my dash lights up like a Christmas tree. If it rains, the truck gets washed, snow or bird poop hits the hood, you guessed it, NO ABS.
The shop has been “working” on it for 3 months, always the same answer. “IT’S FIXED, oh wait, the lights are back on, bring it back when we have more time.”
Anyway, that’s not why I decided to post.
We all got a qual-com message today. Just to paraphrase,
On Nov 1st we are turning all company trucks speed down to 65 on the pedal, 68 on cruise. Genius’, it should be the other way around, AND all our trucks are company. It’s supposed to save the company money on fuel expense and we’re all doing our part.
I also heard a rumor that Lease purchase is coming soon. (I’m sure that’s designed to relieve some of the burden off the company too).
I was wondering how long it would be before WFX business plan was indoctrinated into IWX.
Anyone looking for a job? I have a feeling there is going to be some open driving positions coming soon.
AND I learned something after arriving at my receiver. I put a padlock on the trailer while parked last night, I tried to unlock it and it’s froze solid. I thought someone put superglue in it. A few heavy breaths in the keyhole and it opened. AND they’re still using salt on the roadways, don’t ask how I know.
Out of the Game since 2015...but getting back in

What were they governed at before? I don’t really see a point to the split speeds. Is there a reason why they do that? My company is just governed at a simple 68, no different pedal or cruise speeds.Jaguar115 Thanks this.

I'm looking for a job I'm out of raleigh nc, from what I read this company may offer what I'm looking for, I also like running in the south, I really don't want to go to Chicago for safety reasons, I won't really get In to that. Do they hire out of the east coast?Jaguar115 Thanks this.

@nycflo718 -- You would be much better off with your question if you create a BRAND NEW thread with it -- in the subforum labelled, "Questions from New Drivers".

We were 71mph, on the pedal and cruise...It (in my opinion) has created a HUGE stress increase.
With the anti collision safety features the truck can only get within 200 feet of the vehicle its following. IF that vehicle is traveling at 65 mph or below you have to jump out in the passing lane and CREEP up on the vehicle being passed. Suddenly that driver realizes he's about to be passed and increases speed all while the 4-wheelers are stacking up behind you, running up on your right side. Creates ROAD RAGE from the 4-wheelers and even the BIG trucks.
Suddenly 4-wheelers that were a mile behind you when you started the move are cutting you off and the big trucks are swinging their trailers at you after they pass.
It's a very frustrating situation for other drivers and myself. In all honesty, it would probably be better to be set at 65mph.
I can't deal with it anymore, I always told myself, it's there truck they can do with it what they want...Now it's going to be my truck..Stay tuned -
Call Lori in recruiting...I don't believe they hire in that area simply because you can't take the truck home. Truck has to be left at the terminal and the terminals are
Springfield, Mo.
Kingman, Az.
and someplace in Indiana. -
My New Ride..
I signed the papers on this truck today and working the deal on the hopper as we speak.
I never realized how expensive it is to start out as an Owner Operator..The EZ button is to lease on to a carrier. With ZERO down on the tractor, 25% down on the trailer, Insurance, Authority and permits, etc before putting a drop of fuel in the tanks, it's 21,000$ to just turn the key.
Nothing like a little stress to keep you awake at night.
I am going to start a new thread documenting my new daily struggles/accomplishments. I will be dragging a commodity hopper bottom and utilizing a load board, (not sure if saying which board is permitted). Stay TunedAttached Files:

It’s an automatic with a Cummins.
Would have preferred a 13spd manual but they are becoming hard to find.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
