And the driver probably complains because he can't find a load that pays more than $4.50/mile. Any less than that he can't afford to run...all the time another O/O with an economical, working mans truck puts money in his bank account at half that amount.

I feel the same way when I see trucks with more chicken lights than a carnival ride.

 

decades ago, when i did my homework to buy my own truck, i looked at "plain jane" trucks, not once a fancy schmancy set up.

both trucks do the job, one cheaper than the other, one allowing me to take home more money to pay it off faster.

some have an ego larger than thier brains and just gotta go in debt or bankruptcy faster.

Because, if you can't impress one way, some think they have to impress the other. It's called compensating for an inadequacy. But it could also be a trucker's way of dealing with a mid life crisis.
