APU thermo king startup scortching hot.

    Just got in a truck with an apu for the first time. Why when I put the heat on it comes on lava hot for 5 minutes then turns off again? Is this a censor thing or what? I know the batteries are fine. I have to keep turning it off and on again to get it going

    Is the heat being produced by a seperate system or are you just twisting the temp knob from cold to hot. In every APU I had the heat came from a seperate fuel heater and the A/C came from the APU's air conditioning system. If the heat comes from a fuel heater (Webasto?) you have a fault in the fuel heater. In every APU system I had the heat produced by turning the temperture knob to hot was barely room temperature, at best. I think I have only ever had Thermoking APUs. I never had battery-based, Carrier APU, or other gadgets.

    if it hasn’t been used in long time, may have to keep it going a bit, fuel in heater may be old.
    try it a few times to get good fuel to it.
